Financial Freedom – how much is enough?
Financial independence, having had hundreds of conversations over the last 13 years, has lead me to believe it is more about the freedom to make decisions. Perhaps it is to leave corporate life. Perhaps it is to take your side hustle, full time. Perhaps it is to give back to your community and help others, full time. Perhaps it is to work, indefinitely, but on your schedule.
Financial freedom, retirement, independence – is all about having enough. It is not about an age. You might have a goal to have this done by a particular age, but every single person, has said they will not stop, they will just do differently.
When you want to experience this, is not as important, as the experience itself. I have clients who can afford to “retire” at 40, but are working hard now then ever before. Why? That is because, they are focused on what matters to them.
Lifestyle financial planning is so much more then recommending a product/policy/fund. It is about helping you design, plan, and get to the lifestyle you dream to have. There will probably be many sacrifices along the way. If you are willing to do that, the peace of having enough, to live the life, you want to live, is priceless.
Morgan Housel says it the best. “Financial independence is all about feeling free. Free to do what you want, when you want to, for however long you want to, with whomever you want to do it with.” Think about how freeing that would feel!
Is there a set formula for this? Some say yes, the 4% rule. Life is not black and white, life is not as simple as a formula. If it were, why are we all not financial free already.
So how much is enough? How do you design your perfect plan? What does financial freedom look like to you? Who is going to help you reach it?
Looking forward to chatting with you, about this wonderful topic.
